What is Brainy Bucks?

Brainy Bucks is an iPhone and iPad app that gives kids a short daily quest of math, reading and phonics questions, with a Brain Buddy that grows as they learn. You get a one-sentence weekly summary and up to three suggestions built from your child’s real answers. One adaptive quest is free every day. No ads, no accounts.

What Brainy Bucks is not

  • Skill statuses (Introduced, Practicing, Consistent, Retained, Needs review) come only from answers given in the app. They are not a formal assessment.
  • Coverage is deepest from Kindergarten to Grade 4. Older kids will find less depth.
  • It is still screen time. The parent side includes screen-free activities for exactly that reason.
  • The free tier is generous but capped: one adaptive quest and 3 extras a day. Unlimited quests, monthly reports and multiple child profiles are in Plus.

Questions parents ask

What ages is Brainy Bucks for?

Content runs from Pre-K to Grade 8, with the deepest coverage from Kindergarten to Grade 4. Difficulty adapts to the answers your child actually gives, so two kids in the same grade can see different questions.

Is Brainy Bucks free?

One adaptive Today’s Quest is free every day, plus 3 extra quests a day, hints, second tries, spaced review, the weekly summary and the learning plan. Brainy Bucks Plus is optional: monthly or yearly subscriptions, or a one-time Lifetime option, for unlimited quests, the full practice library and more reports.

Are there ads or purchase buttons my child can tap?

No ads. Child Mode shows no prices or purchase buttons, and purchases and settings sit behind a parent PIN. Every reward inside the app is earned by practicing. Nothing is sold to children.

Does my child need an account? What data is collected?

No accounts. Learning data stays on your device, and there is no chat and no third-party analytics. The app also works offline.

How long does a session take?

Today’s Quest is a 5, 10 or 15 minute mix of new skills, review and earlier mistakes. There are also 90-second Brain Sprints for a quick round.

Can it read the questions to my child?

Yes. Tap the speaker to hear any question and its answer choices. It reads on-device and offline, which helps early and developing readers.

Can siblings use it?

Separate profiles, each with its own progress, buddy and rewards, are part of Family Plus, which supports up to 4 children.

Question 1 of 3

9 + 7 = ?

A small story

The week 9 + 7 came back

MondayTen-minute quest before the bus. 9 + 7 gets a 15. No red X, just a clue about counting on, and the second try lands.

ThursdayThe same fact turns up again, mixed in with review. This time it is right first go, and Star Pup gets a snack.

SundayThe parent dashboard shows one sentence about the week and a suggestion with the reason, time and how to start. Accept it, swap it, or leave it for next week.
